On Wednesday 16 November at the Grand March\u00e9 MIN in Toulouse, the Orius start-up<\/a><\/strong> had the pleasure of inaugurating its on-board vegetable gardens in the presence of Chef Thierry Marx and all the project’s stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In view of the first human missions to the Moon scheduled for 2024, the CNES<\/a><\/strong>, the University of Paris-Saclay<\/a><\/strong>, the PURPAN School of Engineering, the Cuisine Mode d’Emploi(s) school<\/a><\/strong>, Orius and the Grand March\u00e9 MIN<\/a><\/strong> have initiated an unprecedented partnership for an innovative, qualitative and inclusive on-board food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orius, in collaboration with CNES, designs high-precision equipment for the production of living organisms in a restricted space and will install “onboard vegetable gardens” at the Grand March\u00e9, a demonstrator of possible solutions for lunar exploration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this context, the University of Paris-Saclay is also participating in the project, particularly in the area of cooking (with the University’s Cuisine of the Future chair headed by Rapha\u00ebl Haumont and the chef Thierry Marx).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students who are far from employment at the Cuisine Mode d’Emploi(s) schools in Grigny and Toulouse, located in the heart of the Grand March\u00e9, will participate in the preparation of the recipes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, PURPAN’s School of Engineering will provide upstream expertise on the most suitable varieties and allow local producers to participate in this project. PURPAN and Orius are also collaborating on the on-board vegetable garden project thanks to the involvement of two interns: Sol\u00e8ne (a 4th year engineering student who did her internship at Orius) and Bastien (a 5th year engineering student who is about to start his final internship at Orius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
